FLIGHT INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEM (F.I.D.S)

Flight Information Display System has been installed for the following reasons :
[1]. to provide information to the passengers for the required procedures from the airport doorway unti the embarcation to Aircraft and from the disembarcation from the aircraft until the exit of Airport.
[2]. to inform passengers about Aircraft schedules flights via the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority informations Staff and also inform media, mobile telephony and Internet.
Flight Information Display System include the above devices :
[1]. Departures and Arrivals LCD Boards
[2]. Departures and Arrivals Display Monitors
[3]. Check-in Counters Monitors
[4]. Kos International Airport, Hippoktrates (KGS) Gates Monitors
[5]. Belt Monitors
[6]. Staff PC (Display summary informations about flights departures or Arrivals )
[7]. The Airport Information Office Staff, has the appositeness to insert all the flights variations (example : to activate the check-in counters, gates and belts monitors , to insert informations about new flight time,canceled flight, delayed flight time e.t.c ). These variations insert in F.I.D.S via a Terminal PC.
The fisrt Flight Information Display System (F.I.D.S) which was a Local Area Ethernet Network (L.A.N) with TCP/IP communication protocol , , and has been installed at June 1998 from the Greek company ISONET S.A. Thereupon, the above Company has also been installed the same L.A.N to 19 Greek Airports. The same type of the above Lan has been installed later at West Terminal at April 1999.
Also H.C.A.A Electronic Engineers installed one more similar system to the Syros Island National Airport.
The LANs of the 19 Greek Airports consist a Wide Area Network (W.A.N ) which controlled and managed from "Electronic Applications & Major Maintenance Division" via Dial-up and Network Management System (N.M.S) Software.
H.C.A.A Electronic Engineers provide the Technical Support all of the above systems .
Also H.C.A.A Electronic Engineers installed one more similar system to the Syros Island National Airport.

East Terminal Flight Information Display System (F.I.D.S) is a Local Area Ethernet Network (L.A.N) with TCP/IP communication protocol , and has been installed at June 1998 from the Greek company ISONET S.A. The same Company has also been installed the same L.A.N to 19 Greek Airports. The same type of the above Lan has been installed at West Terminal at April 1999.

Each L.A.N has a structured cabling UTP and has used Fibre Optics to connect devices in long distances
